PROJECT
As a returning student, Andrew was excited to join the Film2Future Animation program to learn more about the industry and work on another short with his cohort. With the help and support of Film2Future mentors, he gained access to a Native Instruments keyboard and Logic Pro X to continue building his composition skills. This year, he was assigned to be the editor, sound designer, and composer for his group’s animatic.
During the program, he learned about voice over, foley, and sound design. For the score, he was inspired by the Pixar short “Knick Knack” alongside Thomas Newman’s score for Finding Nemo to tell the story of a lonely stick figure wanting to fit in. This was the first time he created a score for full orchestra, layering instruments as Blank, the stick figure, grew into a monster of their own creation.
It was a fun journey for him, collaborating with fellow crew members Damian Vasquez (Director), Miriam Sills (Storyboard Artist), and Brianna Fernandez (Writer) to bring the world of stick figures raving in the middle of a desert to life.
